Steps to Renew Your Arizona Insurance License

State Insurance Continuing Education Requirements

Continuing Education Hours

If you hold a license to transact insurance with a term of between one year and two years in duration, you must complete 20 hours of Arizona-approved CE during your license term. (regardless of the lines of authority you hold on your license)

If you hold a license to transact insurance with a term of greater than two years in duration, you must complete 40 hours of Arizona-approved CE during your license term. (regardless of the lines of authority you hold on your license)

Continuing Education Compliance Date

Same as Renewal Date. CE must be completed every two or four years to maintain active status.

License Renewal Date

Renewal date is last day of the licensee's birth month.

Types of courses accepted for CE Credit

  • Self-study
  • Classroom study
  • On line courses

Final Exam

Self-study final exams are required to be monitored by a disinterested third party (i.e., someone with no business or family relationship to the student).

Course Subject Requirements

All Arizona licensed resident producers who sell flood insurance are required to complete a one-time 3 hour requirement on flood insurance.

Carryover Requirements

Carryover of excess CE credit hours is NOT allowed.

Course Repetition

Courses may not be taken for credit more than once in each reporting period.

Exemptions

Licensees who hold a resident license in Arizona, but do not hold a license in any other jurisdiction.
