Florida Insurance CE Requirements
Licensees may only repeat the same course once per every three years.
Credits must be taken in lines in which the licensee is licensed. .
Continuing Education Hours
• All licensed agent who have been licensed less than 6 years must complete 24 hours of CE in basic or intermediate coursework including 3 hrs of Ethics, by the last day of birth month, biennially
• All licensed agents who have been licensed for more than 6 years must complete 20 hours of CE in intermediate or advanced coursework including 3 hrs of Ethics, by the last day of birth month, biennially
• All Life Agents must complete 3 hrs of Suitability training, this training may be used to satisfy the 3 hr Ethics requirement
• All General Lines producers must complete 1 hr of CE on premium discount/hurricane mitigation
• All licensed agents who currently sell or may sell flood insurance through the NFIP must complete a one-time 3 hr NFIP Flood training course
• All health insurance agents who sell, solicit or negotiate long-term care insurance must complete 8 hours of initial long-term care insurance training,and must complete 4 hours of additional training each 24-month period thereafter
Continuing Education Compliance Date
End of birth month following the second anniversary of the first license issuance date, and then biannually thereafter.
License Renewal Date
End of birth month following the second anniversary of the first license issuance date, and then biannually thereafter.
Types of Courses Accepted for CE Credit
• Independent self-study courses.
• Internet.
• Classroom study.
Final Exam
Online Interactive self study courses DO NOT require a monitor.All other self-study final exams must be monitored by a provider-approved monitor.
Exemptions
• Individuals with a limited lines license that an exam is not required.
• Individuals with any of the following limited licenses: dental representative, motor vehicle physical damage and mechanical breakdown agent and crop hail and multiple peril crop agent.
