Steps to Renew Your Maine Insurance License

         Your state requirements can be found below or by accessing the Maine DOI website.        Click Here
  • Upon completion of our online courses you will be able to print your certificates online and we will report your credit hours directly to the Maine Bureau of Insurance within ten business days.
  • The Maine Bureau of Insurance requires CE to be completed biennially by birth month. For more information visit the Maine website (207-624-8411).

State Insurance Continuing Education Requirements

Continuing Education Hours

  • 24 hours biennially, including 3 hours of ethics.
  • Due to the new change in rules, licensees who would have a period in 2007 are only required to complete 12 hours of CE by 12/31/07. No ethics hours are required for 2007 CE.

Continuing Education Compliance Date

This Compliance Date is the same as the License Renewal Date except for 2007. In 2007 CE must be completed by 12/31/2007.

License Renewal Date

End of the licensee's birth month in even or odd years. Licensees born in even years renew even years. Licensees born in odd years renew in odd years.

Types of courses accepted for CE Credit

  • Self-study
  • Classroom study
  • On line courses

Final Exam

Self-study final exams DO NOT require monitoring.

Course Subject Requirements

Starting in 2008 all licensees must complete a 3 hour ethics course as part of their 24 hour requirement.

Carryover Requirements

Carryover of excess CE credit hours is NOT allowed.

Course Repetition

Courses may not be taken for credit more than once in each reporting period.
