Steps to Renew Your Michigan Insurance License

         Your state requirements can be found below or by accessing the
         Michigan Office of Financial and Insurance Services website. Click Here
  • Upon completion of our online courses please fax the signed affidavit to 360 training at (512) 857-8634. Once we receive the affidavit we will report your hours to the State of Michigan within 15 days. Your certificate will be mailed to you within 30 days of completing the course.
  • The Michigan Office of Financial and Insurance Services determines CE review dates based on your first initial and last digit of your Social Security Number. For more information visit the Michigan website or contact Thomson Prometric 866-241-3115.

State Insurance Continuing Education Requirements

Continuing Education Hours

24 hours biennially, 3 of which must be Ethics.

Continuing Education Compliance Date

Biennial compliance date is determined by the last digit of the license number (Social Security Number) and the first letter of agent's last name. Compliance date does not change with name change. Agents whose last names begin with A-L renew in odd-numbered years. Agents whose last names begin with M-Z renew in even-numbered years.

Types of courses accepted for CE Credit

  • Self-study
  • Classroom study

Course Subject Requirements

  • 21 hours can be completed in ANY line held, 3 hours must be certified Ethics, Dual licenses no longer need 50% in each license type.
  • Long-Term Care affiliated agents are required to complete an initial 8 hour course on Long Term Care insurance and 4 hours on Long Term Care every two years thereafter.

Carryover Requirements

Excess CE credit hours my not be carried over to the next reporting period.

Course Repetition

Courses may not be taken for credit more than once in each reporting period.

Final Exam

Self-study final exams are required to be monitored by a disinterested third party.

Exemptions

  • Individuals licensed 23 months or less at the time of the first continuing education compliance date are exempt for that first reporting period.
  • Individuals licensed only for one or more of the following lines: Limited Life, Turkey, Crop & Hail, Travel, Accident and/or Baggage, Surety and/or Title.
  • Individuals who apply for and receive a hardship waiver for terminal illness of self or of immediate family member who requires an ordinate amount of care by licensee or military duty.
