New Jersey Insurance CE Requirements

Requires 24 hours of continuing education biennially for resident producers, with three of those hours in ethics; For producers selling Flood coverage, requires 3 hours one-time only for flood training

All licensees who were licensed before 2007 must renew every four years by the dates listed below:

1/31 (Licensed issued between Jan-Mar)
4/30 (Licensed issued between Apr-Jun)
7/31 (Licensed issued between Jul-Sep)
10/31 (Licensed issued between Oct-Dec)

All licensees whose licensed was issued after 2007 must renew by the last day of their birth month, biennially

• Self-study.
• Classroom study.
• On line courses.

All licensees who sell flood products must complete a three hour NFIP Flood training course.
All licensees who sell, solict, or market long term care policies must complete a one-time 8 hr initial training course, followed by 4 hrs of ongoing training every two years.

Carryover of excess CE credit hours is NOT allowed.

Self-study final exams are required to be monitored by a disinterested third party.

Credit will not be given for courses taken more than once in a two-years period.

Effective 11/4/02, no resident producers can be exempted from meeting the continuing education requirement.
