New York Insurance Continuing Education Requirements

All producers with a single line of authority must complete 15 hrs of continuing education every two years.

All producers with two lines of authority must complete 30 hrs of continuing education every two years.

Credit hours must cover lines in which licensed

NFIP Flood Training: All licensees who sell flood products must complete a one-time 3 hr flood training course.

LTC/P: All licensees who intend to sell, solict or negociate long term care insurance must complete a one-time 8 hr training course. In addition, the licensee may be required to complete 4 hrs of ongoing training every two years, thereafter.

Producers are not allowed to repeat courses at any time.

There is no CE requirement for renewal of Independent Adjuster, Bail Bond, Mortgage Guarantee, Re-insurance Intermediary or Viatical Settlement licenses. Holders of all other licenses must complete the CE requirement as a condition of renewing those licenses.

New York State Insurance Law enables this Department to accept a Letter of Certification from a non-resident licensee's home state indicating that the licensee is in good standing and is in compliance with the requirements of that state, including any CE requirements.

There is no CE reciprocity for Public Adjusters. All New York licensed Public Adjusters must complete New York approved CE courses.
