Steps to Renew Your Tennessee Insurance License

State Insurance Continuing Education Requirements

Continuing Education Hours

24 hours biennially

All Tennessee licensed resident producers who sell flood insurance are required to complete a one-time 3 hour requirement on flood insurance.

By license renewal date.

License Renewal Date

Licenses will renew on license issuance date biennially.

Course Subject Requirements

None

Carryover Requirements

A maximum of 12 hours may be carried over to the next reporting period.

Course Repetition

Courses may not be repeated within 3 years.

Exemptions

  • Individuals who are at least 65 years old
  • Individuals who have been licensed continuously in Tennessee for at least 15 years
  • Non-resident agents if their state has CE requirements and has a reciprocal agreement with Tennessee
  • Those licensed prior to 1/1/97, unless they choose to be subject to the CE requirements
