Texas Insurance Continuing Education Requirements

Thirty (30) CE credit hours are required biannually for all General Lines of Authority (Life & Health, Property & Casualty) and all Adjusters.

• Limited lines
• County Mutual
• Life under $15,000

• 2 hours of certified ethics or consumer protection for all license types including adjusters.
• 50% of the total CE requirement must be met through classroom or classroom equivalent courses.
• All Texas property insurance producers who write flood insurance must complete a one-time federal required course related to the NFIP Flood requirement. The producer licensee will receive three hours of continuing education credits for completion of this course.

License renewal date is the license issuance date, biannually.

Classroom or classroom equivalent courses.

Carryover of excess CE credit hours is not allowed.

Credit will not be given for courses taken more than once in each biannually reporting period.

Self-study final exams are open-book, non-monitored exams. There are no final exams required for Classroom Equivalent courses.

Individuals who have been licensed in Texas continuously for 20 years or more may apply for an exemption.

Your certificate of completion will mailed to your registration address. The agent or adjuster keeps original certificates of completion in their files for four years. Proof of compliance must be furnished only if requested by the insurance department for auditing purposes. Certificates may not be printed online.
