Continuing Education Hours:
All Life/Health or Property/Casualty producers are required to complete 16 hrs of continuing education including 2 hrs of VA Laws/Rules, every two years.
All Life/Health and Property/Casualty producers are required to complete 24 hrs of continuing education including 2 hrs of VA Laws/Rules, every two years.
Course Subject Requirements:
Only 75% of all credits can be taken through company or agency sponsored courses.
Credit hours must cover lines in which licensed.
Additional Training Requirements:
NFIP Flood: All producers who sell flood training products must complete a one-time 3 hr NFIP Flood training course.
LTC/P: All producers who wish to sell solicit or negociate long term care products must complete a one-time 8 hr long term care training course, followed by 4 hrs of ongoing training every two years, thereafter.
Carryover Requirements:
Producers are allowed to carry over credits ONLY to the next compliance period.
Course Repetition:
Producers are not allowed to repeat courses within the same compliance period.
License Renewal Date:
Producers must renew their license by 12/31, even years.
Continuing Education Compliance Date:
Producers must comply with the continuing education by 12/31, even years.
Exemptions:
Military Exemption: Agents who are military reservists called to active duty for more than 30 days may be eligible for a waiver for all or a part of their CE requirement.
